gender change [30 May 2012|01:25am]

Is it possible to get a court order for gender change minus having chest or bottom surgery here in Texas? Does anyone know of a lawyer that could help me make this possible or can I do this on my own?

My new FTM YOUTUBE Channel! [19 Apr 2011|08:53pm]

ryryrendon
hello!

im ryan, and im ftm! yah

i just wanted to post about my new youtube channel, where im trying to set up a place for people to talk about ftm everyday issues. Ive set up a few videos already and am open to ideas to make new videos. one of the more important reasons for doing this was because i felt that the lgbt community has a way of excluding queer people of color, and being hispanic myself, i identify with this feeling. i havent seen much out there based on these issues and thought maybe this could be a place for some of that to be spoken about.

well heres the channel check it out!

Research call for cis partners who remained with FTM through transition [12 Feb 2011|01:48pm]

slmvideo
Relationship Satisfaction of Partners of Female to Male Trans Men

How do I qualify?
Are you 18 or older? Are you a partner of a female-to-male trans man or a female to male trans man who is partnered? Have you been in this romantic relationship before he transitioned (however you define transitioning) and are still in the relationship now?
In order to qualify for this study you (the non-FTM partner) must be at least 18 years old and have not or do not plan to make a gender transition. Your FTM partner must also be at least 18 years old. Research participation is restricted to those who are living in the United States, or international participants who can speak and read English and are willing and able to use Skype. We are especially attempting to recruit partners of color as well as cis-male partners of FTMs, but all cisgender partners are welcome to participate.

Who is doing this and why?
Rebecca Keo, a partner of Colt Meier, a trans man, and a person of color, is conducting a research study on the romantic relationships of trans men. She is an undergraduate student at the University of Houston studying Psychology and LGBT studies. The results from this study will be used for her Undergraduate Senior Honors Thesis. The purpose of this research is to help inform researchers about romantic relationships that persist through a gender transition of an FTM. This study examines the non-FTM partner’s unique experience as they witness their partner’s transition.

What do I have to do to be a part of the research?
The study consists of an online questionnaire, which should take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours for both partners to complete separately. The questionnaires will assess basic demographic information as well as relationship satisfaction, physical and psychological abuse, and alcohol dependence. Upon completion of the questionnaire, the non-FTM partner will be asked to participate in an interview regarding your romantic relationship and experience through his transition. The interview will also last approximately 1-1.5 hours.
Both partners must read and agree to the consent form before filling out the survey and participating in the interview. This study has been reviewed by the Committee for Protecting Human Subjects at the University of Houston.

How do I get started?
If you would like to get more information or to participate in this research study, please email Rebecca at rlkeo929@gmail.com with the subject line: Partner of FTM Research. From there, she will ask you a few questions to make sure that you qualify, and then send you the consent form to look over. If you would still like to participate after reading and signing the consent form, she will send you a link to the online surveys, one for each partner. After you both fill out the surveys, then Rebecca will work with you to set up an interview time for the partner of the FTM (via phone or Skype).

[ mood | worried ]

hey all,

uumm this is an odd question to have to ask others but I'm having no luck finding information. I'm an FTM, I'm not on meds & i haven't had surgery. I take t boosting vitamins from GNC, they are meant for muscle development. I'm not sure if what I'm going to say is a blessing or a curse in disguise.

my period randomly stopped in October & has been a no show since. ovarian cancer runs in my family so I'm a lil paranoid about this & given my location in south Texas i haven't been able to find a doctor willing to talk to me or see me over this. (I've had ovarian cysts removed before, recently I'm getting side pains that feel the way the cysts did)

do you know anything that would randomly stop a period? is this normal ? should i be worried?

any help would be great

In Desperate Need Of Help [24 Jun 2010|04:44pm]

xpiercemeupx
Hey everyone.

My names Chris and Im 23-years old. Im currently in Massachusetts right now. But my parents are kicking me out. I came out as trans and now they want nothing to do with me. My girlfriend has moved to Texas because a member of her family is terminally ill. But she doesnt think that shes ready for us to move in together because its a really big step.

The question I'm posing to this community is - Does anyone know anyone that is looking for a roommate in the DFW area of Texas or does anyone know anyone who would help a guy out until he got on his feet?

Or any trans-friendly shelters in the Fort Worth area?

Thanks in advance guys.

I've run into a brick wall. can anyone suggest an ftm friendly ob gyn in the San Antonio area?? i live south of San Antonio and I've run into the problem that my family history has caught up with me. ovarian cancer runs in my family i was diagnosed with ovarian cysts at 15 and had to undergo surgery because they had gotten really bad. i opted for a hysto then but because i was a minor my doc gave my mom the final say and she decided she wants grand kids so i didn't get to have it done. now my cysts are back I'm in constant pain and taking pain pills like they are pez. the doctors here look at me like I'm a circus side show act and call me a liar. every doctor I've gone to keeps telling me I'm just trying to get around the laws to have a hysto. anyone have a suggestion or know a doc who can help?

Join the Tribeca Protest Over "Ticked Off Trannies" Film [06 Apr 2010|04:08pm]

queerunity
A demonstration against the Tribeca Film Festival's choice to feature the movie "Ticked Off Trannies With Knives" will take place in NYC tonight. The movie promotes transphobia and makes light of the rape and violence all too often directed at transwomen. In addition to the offensive title of the movie, the film portrays transwomen as being performers.
